Shanghai hongqiao station is located in the comprehensive transportation hub of Shanghai hongqiao, west of the T2 terminal of Shanghai hongqiao international airport. It is a special station directly under the Shanghai railway bureau. It is the most important railway passenger transport hub in east China and one of the largest railway hubs in Asia. The station is a high-speed railway station for beijing-shanghai high-speed railway, shanghai-nanjing intercity high-speed railway and shanghai-hangzhou special passenger line. It was partially opened on July 1, 2010.
